This portfolio describes some of the Web sites I have developed. Each entry gives a few details about the project.

Pastore's Italian Delly
Pastore's is a long-standing institution in the Towson and Parkville areas it serves. Get Baltimore's best Italian cold cut sub here!
I designed and built this site from scratch. It features an image in the background taken from a photograph of a mural in the store. I took those photographs and some others used on the site. I also did the banner design from a photo provided by the owner.
West Appraisal Services
West Appraisal Services is a real estate appraisal firm serving the central Maryland area.
I designed and built this site from scratch. It includes a map of West's service area and a complex form for submitting requests for appraisals.
The logo and logotype were designed by Lisa Condon. I designed the banner.
Master Graphics, Inc.
Master Graphics is a Baltimore area printing company.
I designed and built this site from scratch. It includes a simple but effective re-order form for customers and some embedded content from Master Graphics' suppliers.
The logo, logotype, and the graphical bullets were designed by Chris Massaro.

I also designed and built an internal informational site for Master Graphics' employees. The design differs from the external Web site to prevent confusion. The site contains how-to documents and other reference information.
Note: The Intranet is internal to the company and cannot be viewed by clicking on its image.
ptCTO
I developed my business site from scratch using the company identity created by the Baltimore design firm Reuter & Associates. Sharon Reuter designed my business card; the Web site follows that theme.
My business site is a good example of a simple, low-cost design that provides marketing collateral for a small business.
Crystal Visions Art
Crystal wanted to move her business site from AOL's pages to her own domain. This involved a technical redesign to create a consistent page-to-page appearance. Through the use of CSS, I was able to make most pages smaller and thus faster to display.
I did the art work to create the banner using imagery provided by Crystal. I also copy edited and contributed some content.
Ross Nickerson
Ross Nickerson is an internationally-known banjo player from Baltimore now residing in Buffalo, NY.
I did a technical redesign of his personal site based on contemporary XHTML and CSS standards. It includes a complex, multi-level drop-down menu and a template system to make Ross' job of maintaining this moderately large site easier. I will be providing some further design help.
The page layout was designed by Doug Sohn.
Paul Hawthorne's Site
Paul was a friend of mine who passed away in early 2007. Before his death, he asked me to publish the contents of his Web site for the indefinite future. Paul's site is important in the banjo community; I was glad to agree.
I did a technical redesign so that the site looks just like his original, but updated to current Web standards. It includes an RSS news feed.
The page layout was designed by Paul. It is clean, crisp, and has stood the test of time.
Placeholders
If your domain is "parked," your hosting company controls what is displayed. It is usually advertising and thus may include a reference to a competitor's site (really).
Until the final Web site is available, I recommend a "placeholder" site. It's just one simple page, intended to be temporary and disposable. If the final design of the site is available it can be used, or a quick and simple design like these can be constructed.

For the first example I used the company logo over a generic but appropriate background and did a little work in Adobe Photoshop to make it interesting.
For the second example I used one of the client's photos of his shop and added a link to Google Maps so a visitor could easily obtain driving directions.
For the third example I simply used the company's business card.

All are better than visitors seeing an advertising-laden, self-serving hosting company promotional page.
My basic Web development package includes the creation of a placeholder at no additional charge.
Prototype
This is a prototype I did for a banjo maker. I did the entire site design, including the banner graphic and some photography. Unfortunately, the maker decided to focus on another of his businesses and this site will not be deployed.
I am equipped for still and video photography if these are ingredients required by your site.
